David Livingstone mission was first established in 1965 motivated by the vision and influence of the Scottish missionary, David Livingstone. He took a break in Ntabazinduna on his way to Victoria Falls in 1824. David Livingstone Primary School was established in 1938. Lessons were conducted in thatched structures. David Livingstone Secondary School was the brain child of Rev A G Leask and was officially opened and dedicated in May 1965. The dedication service was celebrated by Rte. Rev John White the then Moderator of the General Assembly. The first Principal of David Livingstone Secondary School was Mr P M Khumalo. Mrs B Fraser was the principal when the first buildings were still under construction. The first resident minister and founding Chaplin was retired Rev S B Nxumalo. In 2014 the first A level class (Annexed to Gloag High School-a sister school) was admitted in the school majoring in Arts and Commercials with Sciences soon to be introduced. From then the school has been determined towards excellence.
